Aminata Tommy - Board Chairperson
Aminata Tommy has served as a Co-Founder and Eastern Regional Coordinator for Sierra Leone Unites. She has been a volunteer for the National Youth Commission of Sierra Leone for 6 years. She has been working on Conflict Resolution, Gender Based Violence and Youth Leadership. Aminata was awarded Ambassador of Peace during the Internal Youth Summit, headed by Youth Advocacy Children’s Panel (YACAP) in August 2018. She has benefited from so many trainings from both local and international organizations which have helped her in building my confidence learning on youth related issues like child marriage, Gender based violence, drug abuse and conflict resolution. She has been able to carry out sensitization among other youth leaders in her community. Aminata is the Co-founder of Civil Society Organization called Community and Children Youths Empowerment Network – Sierra Leone (CCAYEN – SL) where she engaged in awareness raising, Advocacy, Conflict Resolution and Reproductive Health.
In 2023, she graduated from Eastern Technical University to pursue State Registered Nurse. In 2013, she graduated from Community Ophthalmic Nursing program at the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS) to specializing in the study of the eye.
Aminata loves sports, especially football and volley ball.
Alice B.Y. Thornton - Board Member
Alice B. Y. Thornton is a dedicated healthcare professional with a passion for improving the well-being of others. Born in Bonthe Island, Sierra Leone, Alice brings a unique perspective and understanding of the challenges facing her community. As a mother, she is committed to creating a better future for her children and the next generation. With years of experience in the health sector, she has made a significant impact through her work, providing care and support to those in need. Her empathy, resilience, and determination make her a valuable asset to any team, and her commitment to making a difference inspires those around her.
Saidu Tarawally - District Coordinator, Western Urban
Saidu Tarawally has been working with Sierra Leone Unites for the past three years.
During this period, he has contributed to various projects aimed at
Community development and healthcare improvement across the western Region.
His role has allowed him to collaborate closely with local stakeholders,
Leveraging his skills in making a positive impact in Sierra
Leone.
In those years Saidu has had the privilege of working with Sierra Leone Unites he has dedicated himself to initiatives that foster community Development and enhance healthcare services throughout the region. His role has been multifaceted, encompassing project management, strategic, planning, and hands-on implementation. Through collaboration with local communities and stakeholders. He has been able to contribute significantly to
various impactful projects, such as community sensitization, school sensitization, youths sensitization about the danger of harmful drug and peace education in the country.
His expertise has allowed him to make tangible improvements in the lives of
Sierra Leoneans, promoting sustainable development and resilience. Saidu is deeply committed to the mission and values of Sierra Leone Unites, and he
Looks forward to continuing his work to creating a lasting positive impact in

Patricia Kabia - Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator
Patricia Kabia, a native of Freetown whose resilience and determination have made her a shining example for others. Born with physical challenges, Patricia’s indomitable spirit has propelled her towards becoming a role model. Her journey began at Richard Allen High School, and she continued her academic pursuit by studying Agriculture at Njala University.
Beyond her academic achievements, Patricia is a passionate Gender Activist, dedicated to fostering positive change. As the Founder of the Patricia Children Foundation, she is actively involved in philanthropy, making a difference in the lives of children. Additionally, she hosts the “Women Inspiring Women” talk show, providing a platform for empowering conversations.
Patricia is a multi-talented individual, showcasing her creativity in various ways. As a jingle writer and maker, she weaves melodies that resonate with audiences. Her prowess extends to songwriting and music, where she expresses herself through the power of sound.
In every aspect of her life, Patricia Kabia defies limitations and inspires others to do the same. Her commitment to activism, philanthropy, and the arts is a testament to her character and the positive impact she strives to make. Patricia’s story is one of triumph over adversity, a narrative that encourages everyone to embrace their uniqueness and pursue their dreams relentlessly.

Abdul Rahman M. Kowa - Founder & National Director
Abdul Rahman Kowa is a 2022 Goldin Global Fellow, 2019 Young African Professional Fellow, 2018 African Changemaker Fellow, 2018 West Africa Peace Ambassador and 2015 Emerging African Leader of the YALI Regional Leadership Centre. Abdul Rahman has over 25 years of experience in peace building, conflict transformation, civic engagement, climate change and the environment, democratic good governance, youth leadership and women’s empowerment. Currently, Abdul Rahman is the Founder and National Director of Sierra Leone Unites, an organization that promotes Sustainable Development Goals through peace building, none violence, conflict transformation and youth leadership. He is also the Founder for Strong Women Strong Girls Sierra Leone an organization focusing on building a community of strength around women and girls from under resourced communities. He is Mentor providing mentorship to over 550 youths in leadership, career guidance, entrepreneurship and personal development. He has over 5 years’ experience as a Management Lecturer, 10 years’ experience as a Trainer and 16 years’ experience as a Media Practitioner. Abdul Rahman holds a master’s degree in business administration and a Bachelor degree in Humanities. Abdul Rahman is motivated to see how young people can be restored as productive members of their communities and to be agents of sustainable change for a peaceful society with a thriving economy. Abdul Rahman credits the Mandela Washington Fellowship where he graduated as a Civic Leader from Duquesne University in 2017. In 2019, he was awarded the Young African leaders Award in recognition of his contribution to UN Sustainable Development Goals and African Union Agenda 2063. In 2023, he received the United States Alumni Impact Award for his contribution to community development.
Eliza Kamara - Acting Program Associate
Eliza Kamara joined community volunteerism in 2017 when she developed a passion for making a difference in Sierra Leone. She was the first set of volunteers to join Sierra Leone Unites where she has held leadership positions including District Coordinator, Western Urban District and Acting Regional Coordinator, of Western Region. With an unwavering passion and commitment, she has reached out to over 1000 students and ghetto youths nationwide, spreading the message of peace and the importance of building a united society. Her tireless efforts have empowered young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to build a brighter future.
Her work has not only raised awareness about the danger of drug abuse but also prompted peaceful coexistence among 13 conflicting parties while promoting conflict transformation and fostering a culture of understanding and tolerance among Sierra Leonean Youths. Eliza has witnessed firsthand the transformative power of the initiatives of Sierra Leone Unites, as an individual and part of a diverse community embracing positive change. With eagerness to create a new milestone, Eliza is reminded of the impact she can have when every youth of Sierra Leone works together towards a common goal of transforming Sierra Leone.
She remains steadfast in her pursuit of a safer, more harmonious Sierra Leone where every individual can thrive. Her journey with Sierra Leone Unites has been a statement of the power of collective action, and she looks forward to continuing this vital work for an inclusive Sierra Leonean identity.
Morlai A.S. Kamara - District Coordinator, Bombali
Morlai Augustine Saio Kamara is a dedicated Youth Activist from Sierra Leone, advocating for children’s and youth rights, climate justice, peace, and non-violence.
As a Co-Founder and president of Pekin to Pekin Tok for Human Rights, he empowers young people and amplifies their voices. He collaborates with organizations to promote child protection, education, and healthcare. Actively involved in climate justice campaigns, Morlai promotes sustainable practices and resilience-building.
As the Bombali District Coordinator for Sierra Leone Unites, he encourages non-violence and community cohesion through various initiatives and dialogues.
As the Regional Secretary General of the Mano River Youth Network, his leadership fosters regional cooperation for peace and development.
Umaru Daboh - District Coordinator, Pujehun
Umaru Daboh is a remarkable individual with a passion for learning and a thirst for knowledge. With a keen interest in various fields such as philosophy, education, agriculture, and PHE, Umaru is always eager to expand his understanding of the world.
Umaru Daboh is a 32-year-old, young energetic Sierra Leonean who is passionate about the development of Pujehun District and the Nation at large.
He jokes, laughs, and humour people and gets as much as he gives. He is a very kind, compassionate, sensitive youth as his close friends will tell you. H has a tough shell but on the inside he is soft. Umaru is also a very principled person and stands strong on what is right and wrong. He is also a very straight and honest person.
Umaru holds an Ordinary Diploma in Agriculture General, a Higher Diploma In Agronomy, and a Bachelor Of Education in Agriculture Major and PHE minor from Njala University.

Alie Lahai - Finance Officer
Alie Lahai holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Science and is currently a dedicated Volunteer at Sierra Leone Unites. With a focus on community engagement and education, Alie has been instrumental in several impactful initiatives.
At Sierra Leone Unites, Alie has played a pivotal role in training religious leaders from various faiths in the Kenema District, fostering interfaith collaboration and understanding. Alie also led the training of 375 first-time voters across five chiefdoms within the Kenema District, educating them on electoral malpractices and promoting fair electoral processes.
Alie was actively involved in drug abuse sensitization efforts organized by Sierra Leone Unites in Bombali District, addressing critical public health issues within the community. He has made significant contributions to environmental education by training school pupils from five schools within Kenema on climate change and establishing Climate Change Clubs to promote environmental awareness and conservation.
Alie’s volunteer work demonstrates a strong commitment to community development, education, and environmental sustainability.
Mariama Komeh Sama - Youth Mentor
Mariama Komeh Sama is a youth Activist, Peer Educator, Mentor and Climate Change Coach. She has been empowered with the knowledge, skills, and confidence through Sierra Leone Unites leadership skills training. Today, she can actively engage with policy makers understanding critical gender issues, thereby influencing national decisions. Her work with Sierra Leone Unites has empowered her to identity community problems and actively engage in civic education for peer leaders.
Mohamed Dakiyai - Information Technology Support Officer
Mohamed Dakiyai is a passionate Tech Enthusiast and graduate of Njala University with a Bachelor of Honors in Business and Information Technology. He is dedicated to bringing technology to the global stage, Mohamed served as the Njala University, Mokonde Campus Coordinator and Information Technology Support Unit member for Sierra Leone Unites.
His leadership and expertise drive innovation and foster connectivity, aiming to make technology accessible to all. Currently, he contributes significantly to tech development and digital communication strategies, ensuring impactful and efficient technological integration in various spheres.
